The 34 by 32 mm badge shown here is unique. There are similar badges, such as the Confederate Secret Service badge, but this is the only known CS Engineer badge.

The badge’s previous owner having passed away and the provenance lost, this has only a verbal history of having belonged to Lieutenant Colonel W. W. Blackford of Jeb Stuart's staff. I have reason to believe the identification, but there is no value placed on it, because so far, it cannot be substantiated. I only include the information here so that it can perhaps one day be proven.

The silver plated brass was engraved and then filled with sealing wax to make the text stand out boldly. It is perfect and unaltered in any way.
