Confederate Holster with Lead Rivet Field Repair
Item #: OS-8026
This Colt Pocket holster for a five inch barrel, has two characteristics that identify it as a purely Confederate manufactured accoutrement; the closure tab is of the horizontal strap type and the extremely crude lead rivetted field repair to the belt loops. A Yankee soldier would never have been reduced to such a necessity; making it a hallmark of the struggles for the Confederate cause. The leather remains extremely supple, likely even more supple than when it was new. All of the stitching remains tight save for the bottom stitch line of the belt loop. When the stitching broke from use during the War, the soldier fastened the belt loop back to the holster’s body with two extremely crude lead rivets. At this time, he also seems to have cut out two individual straps to use out of the single large strap manufactured on the holster. There is significant normal wear inside the holster from use. The toe of the holster has a small hole worn in it. The closure latch remains supple and in excellent condition. This is in the top 10% for condition of Confederate holsters. Price $900.00 USD
