This belt and buckle is known as a "Forked Tongue Frame" (for obvious reasons) Waist Belt.
This style accoutrement belt was widely manufactured and issued throughout the Southern Confederacy.
Despite their widespread use, very few of the belts survive. This is likely due to their adaptability to post-war use for such things as horse harness.
This example is strong and supple. The stitching is intact, original and tight.
