“Virginia Style” CS Sword Belt Buckle
Item #: OS-6512

The CS buckle when still on its original belt.

This pattern sword belt plate is known as the "Virginia” style due to the frequency with which they are excavated in Virginia. It is generally accepted as being a Richmond, Virginia product. Large numbers of these belts were issued to Confederate Cavalry and are frequently excavated in Richmond and its environs.

The vast majority of these were issued to enlisted cavalry troopers and excavated examples are found throughout the operational area of the Army of Northern Virginia’s Cavalry Corps.

The buckle was on its very own original sword belt when I got it from the consignor, however, the belt had two post War repairs. It was very modestly priced as a buckle alone, but these repairs made it undesirable to Confederate belt collectors. Having the belt on it at all made it undesirable to Confederate buckle collectors. Therefore, even though it is a beautiful buckle, and was offered at a good price, it did not sell.

After consultation with the owner, it was determined to remove the belt, but give the belt to its eventual purchaser at no charge.

It is re-offered here at a bargain price, only $3,400.00

Price $3,400.00 USD
