Excavated Richmond Spurs
Item #: OS-6556

Other than the Leech & Rigdon made spur pattern with CS cast into the heel band, the pattern shown here are the most readily recognized Confederate made military spurs. It is believed that this pattern spur was made for or by the Richmond, Virginia Arsenal. Commonly known as a "Richmond” spur, it is a distinctly Confederate military design and was not made for issue during any other period of history.

Though broken examples of these spurs are frequently excavated in areas where the cavalry arm of the Army of Northern Virginia operated, it is seldom that a whole example comes out of the ground.

Though closely matched, I do not believe these are an original matched set, but they are nevertheless an exceptional marriage of two, virtually perfect excavated "Richmond” spurs. Priced at wholesale.
